About Dr. Babu Stephen

Dr Babu Stephen is a well-known businessman, activist, in the Greater Washington area and is the CEO of DC Healthcare LLC Inc., and the President of SM Realty LLC. He is a founding member of Kairali television, the publisher of two newspapers, ‘Express India’ and ‘India this Week’, in the metropolitan DC area. He was the founding producer of ‘Darshan Television’ in Washington DC.

He has held many leadership positions in the Indo-American community. He has served as the President of the Indian Cultural Coordinating Committee for two years and was a member of the United States Congressional Advisory Council and Regional Vice President of the Federation of Indians in America. He has also served as President of the Association of Indian in America and as Chairman of Indo American Press Club.

He has dabbled in media and having arrived in America almost four decades ago and has been among the first generation of Indian community builders there. He is the producer of “Summer In America”, that has aired 88 episodes on Kairali TV and is directed by Shaji M. Dr. Stephen was also a part of the Washington DC Mayor’s business delegation to China. He is also a prominent social worker, political activist, spokesperson, entrepreneur, and a human rights activist.

Philanthropy

  • Generously contributed close to $70,000 out of his personal pockets towards FOKANA for multiple court cases and its proceedings and worked towards getting them resolved
  • During the floods in Kerala, donated 1 Cr rupees towards the Chief Ministers Relief Fund
  • Vowed to construct free houses for 25 families in Trivandrum, Kerala during the year 2022-2024

  • Sindhu Stephen, his only daughter is a MD - Gastroentologist, and is married to Jim George
